Who We Are
The Gospel Music Project is a nonprofit, interfaith, nondenominational organization whose purpose is to carry an uplifting message of hope, strength, and joy to diverse audiences, bringing us closer together to understand the meaning of peace, equality, respect, unity, and justice.
We subscribe to the original meaning of the word "gospel," which is good news. Toward this end, we perform music from all gospel traditions--Negro spirituals, black gospel, white Southern Gospel, folk and blues gospel--as well as a few secular songs that bring a message of hope, joy, and belief in the greater good of the human spirit. We also seek to educate our audiences about those traditions so that they may leave our performances not only feeling uplifted, but with a deepened appreciation of the music's positive impact on our culture.
